CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: ACADEMIC POSITION FOR ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN DEVELOPMENTAL AND STEM CELL BIOLOGY

Faculty of Biological Sciences at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile
extended the invitation to apply for a tenure-track position at the level of
Assistant or Associate Professor. The applicants must demonstrate successful and independent research in Developmental
and Stem Cell Biology in areas including mechanism of cell type specification,
early development, organogenesis, cell movement, models to study developmental
malformations, organoids, embryonic and adult stem cell biology, cellular
reprogramming or regeneration, among others. In
addition, they will be expected to demonstrate their ability to teach
undergraduate and graduate students in these areas.

The Faculty of Biological Sciences has 70 Professors at different stages of
their academic careers and 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The

ASSOCIATED TO THE ACADEMIC POSITIONS:
To lead independent and internationally recognized research in Developmental and Stem CellBiology.
To establish collaborations with researchers from other areas of the Faculty of Biological Sciences or other academic units within the University to develop interdisciplinary research.
To teach undergraduate and graduate students through leading lectures or laboratory courses, collaborating in course design, and acting as a student advisor in research courses and theses. Undergraduate teaching will be focused on the initial levels of training for undergraduate students from Biochemistry, Biology, Marine Biology, and undergraduates from other programs at the University (i.e., health sciences, education, college, among others). Enrolling in the teaching certificate from the Centro de Desarrollo Docente is mandatory for all new Faculty.
To train future scientists by advising or mentoring undergraduate or graduate research students.
To obtain external research funding.
To participate in academic and administrative activities within the University.
To develop outreach activities with an impact on society and the general public.
Hold a PhD degree and postdoctoral experience in any of the areas indicated above.
Ability to carry out independent research and to obtain funding for research.
Demonstrate capacity to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.
For those applying to the Associate Professor level teaching experience or holding a teaching certificate need to be demonstrated.
Trajectory, leadership, and quality of
Experience in the proposed research area.
Potential for academic progress and
integration within the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
In identical conditions, preference will be given to women scientists
or applicants from underrepresented groups.
Have an academic profile in the Web of science and Google Scholar
