Líneas de Investigación

Mis principales líneas de investigación son la interacción entre sistemas ecológicos y sociales en zonas costeras, conservación y manejo sustentable de recursos marinos, la ecología submareal y el análisis de políticas públicas orientadas al manejo de recursos naturales. Estoy particularmente interesado en las consecuencias sociales, económicas y biológicas de otorgar derechos de uso exclusivo a organizaciones de pescadores artesanales de pequeña escala. Actualmente lidero un proyecto sobre servicios ecosistémicos marinos en Chile y otro sobre el uso de diferentes estrategias de manejo y conservación marina y sus consecuencias en términos de biodiversidad y bienestar humano. He publicado en importantes revistas de circulación internacional, tanto de ciencias sociales como naturales y he recibido numerosas distinciones.
