Líneas de Investigación

La investigación dentro del área de la Ecología de Poblaciones requiere de un importante grado de interacción entre componentes teóricos (modelos poblacionales) y datos empíricos. Dentro de este contexto, mis intereses principales se centran en: 1) conectar modelos poblacionales con datos, 2) análisis estadísticos de series de tiempo ecológicas, 3) aplicación de modelos probabilísticos para analizar datos de captura-marcaje-recaptura (CMR) y estimar procesos demográficos en poblaciones naturales, 4) desarrollo de modelos poblacionales estructurados y 5) dinámicas complejas en poblaciones naturales. En el contexto de manejo y conservación mis intereses se centran en 1) análisis de viabilidad poblacional, 2) control biológico y predicción de plagas, 3) análisis de dinámica poblacional de especies explotadas comercialmente y 4) Conexión de datos y modelos epidemiológicos. Mis actividades de investigación se han centrado en los últimos años en entender la interacción entre procesos biológicos y variabilidad climática en la determinación de la dinámica de poblaciones naturales. En términos generales, mis perspectivas en los próximos años son desarrollar un programa de investigación en Ecología de Poblaciones, con particular interés en micromamíferos pero con el serio interés de ampliar la investigación incorporando otros taxa (e.g., insectos, aves, invertebrados marinos y peces).
